Our t-shirt contest ended the last day of October and my silly little Nestle Quick container had 19 entries. Alia Zook, October's winner, chose the cube timer!
Look at this great group of students who have been practicing well and earning lots of points! While there will be more to add to the door soon, these have been fast to earn their first 50 points. Points come mostly from practice (they get 2 bonus if they practice 5 times in the week with a cap of 10 points each week) but also in many other ways such as memorizing a piece, telling the order of sharps & flats in the key signature, or performances at school or church. Keep up the good work!!

THE YELLOW TEAM HAS USURPED THE LEAD over the green team, September's point-leader! Students unknowingly put themself on a team when they chose their cards in the first lesson of September. By the end of September, point totals placed the green team in a solid lead. However, five weeks later and many lessons and hours of practice accomplished, it was time for the end-of-the-month October tally. Obviously, there are plenty on the yellow team that are doing good work but kudos to all who are boosting the totals of their own team! Yellow team members are Kyla, Sadie, Fiyin, Maddie, Shianne, Michael, Emily & Giselle!
IT'S NOVEMBER AND TIME FOR CHRISTMAS BOOKS to emerge! I have a book chosen for every student and hope that you'll enjoy hearing songs of the Christmas season in your home. Since we're missing our chance to play at Stone Ridge this fall, for those who
have a Christmas song prepared and would like to participate, I'll be recording or accepting recordings from you and putting them on an unlisted youtube channel. It's optional but an opportunity to highlight some of the good work over these past weeks. Look for the 12 days of Christmas coming in December!
TAKE NOTE:
There will be NO LESSONS
November 23 - November 27, the week of Thanksgiving Day
December 21 - January 1, Christmas break
When the bench is empty: A REMINDER ABOUT THE CANCELLATION POLICY as copied directly from the website:
With the pace and busyness of life, there will be occasions when you can’t get to your scheduled lesson time. However, because specific times are set aside for specific students, a student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. I can then use that time or other times to plan for the student’s progress, locate materials, etc.
Please be assured that your tuition pays for far more than the time spent with your child (see Is that payment just for the actual lesson?) With advance notice, it may be possible to reschedule at a later time or different day. There are no refunds or makeups with short or no notice. If I need to cancel due to sickness or other reasons, I will use a flex lesson which is accounted for in the schedule.
Do you use Venmo? I am signed up and can be found at Donna LaRue8 if you'd like to use this to pay for lessons. Check it out!
